Golf is the favorite sport of the upper class and expatriate communities in Cambodia. Cambodia aims to have eight international standard golf courses in 2010 and hoping to be the top golf destination in Asia. 18 holes course of the Angkor Golf Resort, fabulously designed by Nick Faldo, was open in 2007 and is Cambodia’s first PGA standard championship golf course. Golf tour packages are available for local and international aficionados. Despite being new, the resort is favored to hold nationwide tournaments like FCC Nations Cup, Angkor Amateur Open, and Sokha Hotel Texas Scramble. Phokeethra Country Club, managed by Sofitel Phokeethra Royal Angkor Golf & Spa Resort, is a unique and exclusive golfing experience. The 18-hole golf course, located on 20 minutes from Siem Reap International Airport, holds the annual Cambodian Open tournament. With its 27-hole golf course the Siem Reap Lake Resort Golf Club is currently the kingdom’s largest golf complex. |
